My new book, Heartificial Intelligence: Embracing Our Humanity to Maximize Machines launched yesterday. It's always terrifying and exciting for me when I publish an article and that feelings is magnified a great deal when launching a book. But however it's received I was honored to interview dozens of amazing experts in Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, Positive Psychology, and Economics. My hope is that their work will get a little more known through this book.
And that said, I'm also proud of my ideas like, "Values by Design" which is a core premise for the book. Basic idea - you should get to create your own personalization algorithm based on your preferences that you control. Like entering in data for a dating site for you overall life (versus getting a date/partner) the idea here is you can codify your values in a way machines will understand. That way, in a sense, you get to tell machines and their makers what your subjective trusth is about life. That has the ability to create more value, innovation and trust between people and brands, organizations, and the government than if those actors just keep surveilling us without us understanding how they're using our data or giving us access to it.
If you read it - thanks. I really appreciate your interest and time.
