Take the 21-Day Values Tracking Challenge!

They say it takes 21 days to create a new habit.  A central question for Heartificial Intelligence is, “How will machines know what we value if we don’t know ourselves?”  In a very real sense, personalization algorithms track our values via our clicks and surfing behavior, getting to know us almost better than we know ourselves.   So why shouldn’t we be able to identify, track, and live to our own values outside of technological intervention?  That way we'll have a life-portrait of our values that can someday be defined, in code format, for the Artificial Intelligence and algorithms that already dominate our lives.  This overarching idea is called, Values By Design that is elucidated within Heartificial Intelligence.

So let me ask you - could you list the top ten values you hold most dear?  Or even the top five? The Science of Positive Psychology notes that if you don’t live to your values every day, your happiness and wellbeing decrease.  I created the 21-Day Values Tracking Challenge as a way for you to measure your Values and galvanize the habit of living to the quantified ideals you hold most dear.

Why Track?  I'll give you an example of what I experienced after I tracked my own values.  At the start of 21 days, I said that "health" was an important value for me.  But after 21 days, I realized I wasn't living to the value of health (aka, I wasn't getting any exercise and my eating habits were poor).  So since August 23rd, 2014 (my wedding anniversary) I've currently lost 32 pounds.  I've tried many diets over the years, but it wasn't until I saw that I wasn't living to a value I held dear that I was able to maintain motivation to stay fit.  My hope/goal is you'll find similiar insights when you track the values in your own life.

For now, you can take the challenge by clicking/downloading the PDF below which is an excerpt from Heartificial Intelligence, available in February, 2016.  The Challenge is currently also being made into an App, with a goal launch date of January 1, 2016.

    Good luck and Get Tracking!

Please note: PDF Excerpt is in draft format.  Thanks for your patience in printing up these documents and doing your own Values tabulations for the time being.  These will eventually be done by the App we’re working to create.
